Meng Meiqi (孟美岐) is a Chinese singer and actress signed under Yuehua Entertainment. She was a member of the South Korean girl group WJSN and the Chinese girl group Rocket Girls 101. She studied in Luoyang Foreign Language School's Junior High department. She subsequently went to South Korea to become a trainee when she was 15 years old under Starship Entertainment. She was revealed as a member of WJSN on December 31, 2015 as part of the group's Natural Unit. She made her debut with WJSN on February 25, 2016 with their first mini album "Would You Like?". On March 15, 2018, it was announced that Mei Qi, alongside bandmate Xuan Yi, would be contestants on the survival show Produce 101 China. The girls ranked 1st and 2nd respectively, hence becoming members of Rocket Girls 101. On June 23, 2018 she made her debut with Rocket Girls 101 with their first single "Collide". On September 2, 2018, Starship Entertainment announced that Mei Qi, along with Xuan Yi and Cheng Xiao, would be unable to participate in WJSN's comeback with "WJ Please?" due to their conflicting schedules with Chinese promotions. Mei Qi made her Chinese solo debut on April 23, 2019 with the her first digital single "Helios". Rocket Girls 101 disbanded on June 23, 2020 following the expiration of the members' contracts. On March 3, 2023 Starship Entertainment announced that the contracts for members Mei Qi, Xuan Yi, and Cheng Xiao, which were shared with Yue Hua Entertainment in their participation with WJSN, had automatically concluded. |
